Betty Louise Cumberland

Betty Louise Cumberland, 92, of Wabash, Indiana, passed away July 21, 2024 at the Waters of Wabash East in Wabash, Indiana.

She was born on February 25, 1932 to Clarence Thomas Moore and Mildred Marie Grimes Moore in Lubeck, West Virginia.

She was formerly married to Robert Mason Sayre in Parkersburg, WV.  In 1997, she married Loren K Cumberland in Warsaw, IN. He preceded her in death in 2009.

Betty is survived by her son Robert Eugene Sayre of Parkersburg, WV, and her daughter Peggy Lynn Sayre Siders of Lagro, IN, three grandchildren, Katy (Sherman) Gray of Wabash, Chelsea (Jason) Wilkinson-Stover of Peru, and Nathaniel (Angelina) Siders of Howell, MI and five great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are two sisters, Nancy Leeson of Louisville, KY and Mary Catherine Green of Walker WV. Two sisters and two brothers are deceased.

After high school Betty attended business school. She worked at Rhoads Insurance in Wabash in the 1970s. She worked for the government in savings bonds at  Public Debt in Parkersburg, WV. After retirement, she worked another 15 years preparing tax returns for H&R Block and Jackson Hewitt in Warsaw, IN.

In her spare time she liked to sew and quilt and made many beautiful quilts for family and friends.

Following Betty's wishes, there will be no funeral services.
