Dorothy “Dot” Adkins, 62, of Warsaw crossed the bridge of life and joined her heavenly family on March 13, 2020 at 6:21 am after a brief illness. Dot was born July 18, 1957 in Martin, Kentucky, the second oldest child of Charlie and Phylistene (Newsome) Mitchell.
Dot moved to the Warsaw area in 1976 where she worked as a cook at Prairie View Nursing Home. She went back to school and got her G.E.D. and went on to earn her Certified Dietary Manager Certificate from Ivy Tech. She worked in the health care food service industry for 35 years. She enjoyed cooking, reading, sewing, gardening and traveling. She loved the Lord and attended New Hope Freewill Baptist Church and formerly Warsaw Wesleyan Church now Pathway Church. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with friends.
Dot is survived by her son, Blake Adkins of Warsaw, ex-husband, Randy Adkins of Warsaw; nine siblings, Lola (Fairley) Jones of Grethel, KY, Anna (Larry) Howell of Grethel, KY, Bonnie (Astor) Hall of Grethel, KY, Ronald (Joetta) Mitchell of Warsaw, June (Mike) Williams of Teaberry, KY, Paul (Sandy) Mitchell of Pikeville, KY, Anita Martinez of Warsaw, Nadine Mitchell of Tram, KY, Amanda (Kermit) Bell of McDowell, KY and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 pm, on Sunday, March 15, 2020 at First Christian Church of Warsaw, 115 Park Ridge Dr., Warsaw, 46580. Cremation will follow.
Memorial donations in honor of Dot may be given to I.U. Methodist Hospital, 1701 North Senate Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46202.
