Dona Jean Hatfield, 94, ‘stepped on shore finding it heaven’ on March 15, 2018, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Warsaw. She was born August 20, 1923 to Paul and Ocie (Parker) Newcomb. On October 22, 1946, she married George Davis Hatfield who died December 25, 2009.
Surviving are a son, Chip (Paula) Gast, Warsaw; daughter, Kim (Kent) Ring, Claypool; four grandchildren: Doug Yarian (Warsaw), Chad (Fayth) Silveus (Phoenix, AZ); Samira (Daniel)Myers (Lake Placid, FL); Charissa (Matthew) Borden (Jupiter, FL); three great-grandchildren: Nilsson, Violet and Aiden.
Jean retired from the US Postal Service as a postmaster at Burket, IN. She served on various boards of the Burket United Methodist Church, was involved in the missions program, taught Sunday School, and was a member of the Prayer and Share group. A gracious lady, she never had anything bad to say about anyone. She was well loved by all who knew her, and she reflected the love of Christ in many practical and encouraging ways.
Services will be held at the Burket United Methodist Church on 102 Market St., Saturday, March 17, 2018 with visitation beginning at 12:30pm and going until the 2:00 pm funeral service, Pastor Gary Loy will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Palestine Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in honor of Jean may be given to the Burket United Methodist Church.
