Olive M. (Hayworth) Hope

Olive May Hope, 90, of Warsaw, formerly of Sweetser, died Wednesday, December 7 at Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw. She was born July 11, 1926 in Prairie Creek, Indiana to the late Elmer and Edna (Shoemaker) Hayworth; she married Charles “Charlie” Hope on February 19th, 1948 in Terre Haute, Indiana; he preceded her in death on June 9, 2008.

After graduating from Prairie Creek High School and marrying Charlie, they moved and lived the remainder of their lives together in Sweetser, Indiana. She was a homemaker and supporter of the sports teams at Oak Hill High School, where Charlie was a math teacher until 1988. Since his passing in 2008, she was a resident of Miller’s Merry Manor Assisted Living in Warsaw, Indiana.

Olive was a former member of Grace Community Church in Marion.  She was a seamstress, home cook, and loved watching sporting events on television.  Together they took an annual fishing trip to Minnesota, and later in their lives traveled to Florida in the winters.  At Miller’s, she was an active card player with the other residents.

She is survived by her nephew Bruce (Stacy) Hope in Warsaw, who provided love and support since Charlie’s passing.  Also, Brent Hope of Chicago, Illinois, Erika Mungovan and Ian Hope, both of Fort Wayne as well many other extended family members of the Hope and Hayworth families.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charlie, a sister Clara Drake and brothers Harry & Cloyde.

Visitation begins at noon on Monday, December 12 at Walnut Creek United Methodist Church, 2033 S 150 W, Warsaw, IN followed by services at 1:00 PM.  A brief burial service will be conducted at 3:30 PM at the Grant Memorial Park mausoleum chapel, 1606 West 26th Street, Marion, IN.
