Pete O’Connell, 75, of Winona Lake, was called Home on Monday, July 8, 2019 at Millers Merry Manor in Fort Wayne. Pete was born in Warsaw IN.
Pete proudly served his country in Vietnam, as a Marine. After his service, he indulged his wanderlust and traveled the country he loved so much. Pete was an amazing father, grandfather, and compassionate friend. He was an avid jokester and enjoyed lifting up those around him.
Pete’s strong work ethic was demonstrated most notably with the town of Winona Lake.
Pete is survived by a daughter Stacey O’Connell (wife Casandra Harding) of Charleston, South Carolina and a grandson Jacob Henry. Also surviving are his brother Charles (wife Patsy) Summerlot and three sisters, Bonnie (husband Kirk) Liggett, Linda Summerlot and Cinda Sue (husband William) Varney.
A memorial service will be held at the pavilion outside the Winona Lake Community Center, which he loved so much, on Friday July 12that 5:30 PM. Friends can meet with the family prior to the service from 3:00 PM until the time of the service at the pavilion.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the family or donations made in Pete’s name to the American Heart Association.
