Tamara J. “Tami” Nelson, 54, of Syracuse, passed away Friday, November 20, 2015 at I.U. Health Goshen Hospital after a courageous ongoing battle with Diabetes. Tammy was born November 29, 1960 in Marion to Kenneth L. Sr. and Virginia (Lewis) Hall. On March 12, 1979, she married Rick Nelson; he survives.
Tami lived most of her life in Kosciusko County, she worked as a CNA working for several Nursing facilities and especially enjoyed working with the Mentally Disabled. She graduated with an Associate’s Degree from the University of Phoenix and also earned her Real Estate License with Beer Real Estate. She was a great wife, mother, sister and aunt and loved them all dearly. She never knew a stranger and had a great sense of humor. She enjoyed going for walks, going to the races with her husband Rick, and being outside in the fall, her favorite time of year. She always dreamed of retiring in Michigan.
Tami leaves behind her husband of 36 years, Rick, two sons, Tim (Cynthia) Nelson, Pennington Gap, VA; Ricky, and a daughter Malaya “Mae” Nelson both of Syracuse. Also surviving is a sister Aundria (John) Bloomer of Marion and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Kenneth L. Jr., John R. Hall, Larry D. Hall and a niece Angie Dawn Bloomer-Bennett.
Visitation with the family will be from 3:00 to 6:00 PM, Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at Bethel Baptist Church, 1109 West Market St., Pierceton, Indiana with a celebration of Tami’s life beginning at 6:00 PM; Pastor Jim Baughman will officiate the service.
Memorial donations may be given to the family.
