Arnold “Hump” Tolson, 78, of Warsaw passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at home surrounded by his loving family after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. He was born July 5, 1941, one of 10 children to Sam and Elizabeth (King) Tolson. On January 25, 1964, he married the love of his life, Betty S. “Lucy” Prater, sharing 56 years together.
Hump was employed with Warsaw Foundry for 30 years prior to his retirement. He was a jokester with a great sense of humor, never running out of “dad” jokes. He enjoyed listening to Bluegrass music, smoking cigars, eating sweets and gambling. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them and his two dogs, Abby and Shelly.
Hump is survived by his wife Betty, three children, Arnold E. (Lois) Tolson of Warsaw, Michael W. (Lyn) Tolson of Pierceton, Angela (Mark) Baugher of Michigan; six grandchildren, Jeremy Tolson, Amanda Tolson, Tyler Tolson, Elizabeth Tolson, Derrick Gidley, Keshia Hurd and eight great grandchildren. Also surviving are six siblings, Patsy (Denver) Prater of Pierceton, Nick (Ellen) Tolson of Pierceton, Wilma Jean (Jerry) Cockey of Pierceton, Josie (Bill) Jennings of Warsaw, Junior Tolson of Pierceton and Mary (Greg) Griepentrog of Pierceton.
Hump was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Theresa Mae Tolson; three brothers Bill, James and Eddie, a sister Carol Manganaro and a sister in law Vicki Tolson.
Due to the current public gathering restrictions resulting from the COVID-19 crisis, private family services were held with burial in Hillcrest Cemetery.. Friends and family will gather to remember Hump’s life at a later date.
